Bendigo Bank Agency now open at Skipton UFS Pharmacy Depot

A Bendigo Bank Agency officially opened at the Skipton UFS Pharmacy Depot on Friday 14 December 2012, providing locals with an alternative banking option. The Skipton Agency can process cash withdrawals immediately, while cash and cheque deposits will be processed to one’s account within one to two working days.

Bendigo Bank’s Senior Manager Group Agencies Mr Tim Birthisel said, “These agencies play a key role within Bendigo Bank’s network. Agencies represent approximately 20 per cent of the Bendigo Bank’s retail outlets and provide many small or remote communities with banking products and services. This means that Bendigo Bank customers can conveniently do their banking at 590 customer service outlets around Australia”.

UFS Dispensaries’ Chief Executive Officer Ms Lynne McLennan stated, “As a not-for-profit organisation, UFS is pleased to partner with Bendigo Bank to support Skipton locals with this initiative. We hope that individuals, families and businesses in the wider community will benefit from this new business arrangement”.

The new agency is fully supported by Beaufort Community Bank® Branch, and its staff will deal with all referrals from the agency to ensure the Skipton community has access to all banking services and products.

Beaufort Community Bank® Company Chairman Mr Robert Byrne said, “The Skipton Agency will help return even more money to the local community. When you support the agency and Community Bank® branch, you are in effect supporting local community groups and organisations. The more you bank with us the more we can give back”.

UFS Dispensaries shares a proud history of supporting community groups and projects. Last year UFS donated over $35,000 in sponsorships and donations across Western Victoria.

First Robot Medication System for Ballarat

Not-for-profit organisation UFS Dispensaries has officially installed the first medication packing robot in Ballarat. The new Webstercare MedsPro™ Robot was installed on Monday 29 October 2012 at the Delacombe UFS Pharmacy.

UFS Dispensaries' Chief Executive Officer Ms Lynne McLennan said, “UFS is proud to be the first organisation in Ballarat to lead the way with this state-of-the-art technology. The robot is amazingly small, occupying only one square metre of space in the packing room. The touch screen computer guides the operator through the packing, dispensing and script management process to produce sealed blister packs of medication, which is superior to hand packing medication”.

The traditional method involved the manual packing of medication into blister packs by Dispensary Assistants. On average, approximately six medication packs can be processed manually by an individual in one hour. The Webstercare MedsPro™ robot is capable of producing 40 packs per hour, which is the equivalent of 90 seconds per pack. The robot has the capacity to pack the top 213 most commonly used medications from its canisters.

According to UFS Dispensaries’ Professional Services Manager Mr Colin Dorn, “The efficiencies gained by using Webster-pak® and MedsPro™ have already been significant. This robot provides a much faster, more accurate and cleaner method of packing medication. The robot is even able to pack two blister packs of medication simultaneously for different patients”.

The increased capacity for producing blister pack medication benefits the growing membership base of UFS Dispensaries. Using Webster-paks® to manage medicines is great for anyone who finds it difficult to remember when to take their medicines. The packs are sealed and clearly marked making it easy to see if the tablets for any particular day have been taken. This helps carers keep track of things too. Mr Dorn stated, “Customers can choose to collect their medication from the Delacombe UFS Pharmacy, have it delivered directly to their home or arrange to have it sent to other UFS Pharmacy stores for pick up”.

'O Week' at UB

Monday February 18 UFS Dispensaries took part in the University of Ballarat Orientation Week Market Stall Day. The event included over 60 stalls ranging from University Clubs and Societies, large corporate and local Ballarat businesses as well as community and not-for-profit organisations.

This was a great opportunity for our business to personally promote our products and services to the students in an environment that was both engaging and entertaining.

Over the course of the day we ran a competitions. Students who joined as a member on the day won a gourmet lunch at Treloar's coffee house.

The Doveton Street UFS Pharmacy is the twentieth pharmacy operated by UFS Dispensaries. From humble beginnings in 1881 with one staff member, UFS Dispensaries has grown considerably to manage pharmacies spanning across inner Melbourne through to Beaufort and now employs over 440 staff.

Our newest pharmacy has been established to meet demand from patients attending the Doveton Street Medical Centre. This pharmacy is open to everybody and not restricted to medical centre patients.

The Doveton Street Medical Centre offers general practitioner, practice nurse and pharmacy services as well as on-site pathology services. In addition, it provides allied health professional services including physiotherapists, podiatrists and a dietitian.

Pharmacy customers will also benefit from fast script assembly thanks to the Consis Dispensing Robot located within the pharmacy.

The Consis Dispensing Robot will improve efficiencies, allowing pharmacists to spend more time providing professional health advice to customers.
