Ms Lynne McLennan, Chief Executive Officer of UFS said “We are delighted that we now have supplies of both the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccine. All Australians aged over 40 are now eligible for a vaccine, with Pfizer being the preferred vaccine for those under 60. Those under 40 may opt to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine, however UFS encourages you to have a conversation with your GP first.

There are still a number of people aged under 40, who have been eligible to receive a vaccine for some time, including some healthcare and emergency services workers, people with a disability and their carers and people with chronic diseases, who have not yet received a vaccine. I’d encourage anyone who has not yet had their first dose to roll up their sleeve and protect themselves, their families and our community against COVID-19. As we are seeing in NSW at the moment, COVID-19 poses a serious threat. There are a number of young people in hospital and in ICU in NSW with COVID, it is not just a disease that affects older people.

“It is also vitally important for those who have had their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine to follow through and receive their second dose within the recommended time frame, to achieve the best immunity”, Ms McLennan added.
