In December, 2021, UFS placed 14 additional defibrillators in our pharmacies to ensure that these critical life saving devices are more widely available in the community.

The availability of a defibrillator can mean the difference between life and death for somebody who suffers a sudden cardiac arrest. Every minute is critical, as getting a defibrillator on a patient within 10 minutes gives them the best chance of survival.

The new defibrillators are semi-automatic, so the device gives the user instructions on what to do. Our pharmacies also have first aid and CPR-trained staff on-site able to assist in an emergency. These additional 14 devices add to the defibs that were already installed at the Sturt Street UFS Pharmacy and at Hardy’s UFS Pharmacy in Gisborne.
